Quarantine has paved the way for countless hours of (hopefully) excusable binge-watching on Netflix. But sometimes, it’s tricky to pick what to watch since there are just so many options to choose from. Fret not! We have compiled a short list (be on the lookout for more coming soon!) of TV shows, movies, and documentaries that we have watched/want to watch!

WHAT WE’VE WATCHED
Movies
Always Be My Maybe
We love to see Asian-American representation in cinema, and who better than Randall Park and Ali Wong? Always Be My Maybe is truly an adorable film, following the story of two childhood sweethearts, Sasha and Marcus, who reunite after fifteen years. This movie has cute, little bits and pieces that are sure to tug at your heartstrings. Oh, and you don’t want to miss out on the hilarious Keanu Reeves cameo in this movie (hahah)!
The Other Guys
What can we say about Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell? Whenever they unite on the screen, its truly a delight (Shreya LOVED Daddy’s Home 2!). Not to mention that this movie begins with a hilarious action-packed cameo from Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson! If you’re looking for a mood-uplifter, be sure to watch this film, as it’s riddled with a good infusion of jokes and action at all the right times.
The Week Of
Who doesn’t absolutely adore Adam Sandler?! We seriously cannot get enough of his movies (if you can’t either, be sure to check out Murder Mystery and Just Go With It - both star the stunning Jennifer Aniston, and it is just a treat to watch her and Sandler on-screen together!). This movie also has Chris Rock and Rachel Dratch in it, and we could not stop laughing while watching this movie. It hilariously details the plight of a dad (Adam Sandler) trying to give his daughter (Alison Strong) the best wedding, battling chucklesome issues along the way, whilst refusing the groom’s father’s (Chris Rock) countless offers to help pay for the wedding.
TV Shows
The Flash
Shreya is a total science-fiction enthusiast! Whether it be Marvel or DC, she loves sitting on the edge of her seat, being amused by the stellar graphics, and listening to the crazy scientific jargon (science is her favorite subject, after all!). The Flash is especially special for her, because its something her and her mom watch together (they get loads of quality mama-daughta time!). It stars Grant Gustin, Candance Patton, Danielle Panabaker, and more talented actors, and would highly recommend it (she’s going to be releasing a comprehensive review on all of the related TV shows she’s watched on Netflix in the future, so be sure to check that out if you love sci-fi as much as she does!).
The Office
No words can describe the incredible love Shreya has for this show (if you don’t believe us, she’s watched all 9 seasons thrice. Yes, thrice!). Calling Steve Carrell a comedian is an understatement - his acting is divine! This is one of the few shows Shreya’s watched wherein every single character, regardless of how much the story contains them, has a unique, distinctive personality and presence without which the show would be incomplete. If you haven’t watched this, you MUST! Some of Shreya’s favorite episodes are “The Injury” (S2: E12), “The Merger” (S3: E8), and “Dinner Party” (S4: E13).
WHAT WE WANT TO WATCH
We wanted to include a list of TV shows and movies we are dying to watch, but just haven’t gotten around to it, in case you were in the same boat. Have any more recommendations that we can add to our list? Shoot us an email at elysianisticaura@gmail.com or leave us a comment down below!
Movies
Extraction
This Chris Hemsworth and South Asian (yay!) action-filled starrer is exactly what we’ve been looking for! It’s a bit of a more serious film, covering everything from the underworld to weapons and drugs. Nonetheless, we can’t wait to unravel the exciting mysteries this movie holds!
Spenser Confidential
Of course, we have a Mark Wahlberg starrer on our list! In Spenser Confidential, however, we get to see a more serious side of his (just goes to explain his versatility!). This movie stars Post Malone (yes, the ol’ Posty Baloney - jk we don’t think anyone calls him that hahah) as well, and is another gut-wrenching murder mystery that we are sure will keep us glued to our seats.
TV Shows
Tiger King
We know. We’re behind in the game. Tiger King: Murder, Mystery, and Mayhem is buzzing on the Internet, and has been a quarantine go-to. It’s a true-crime miniseries that documents the life of zookeeper Joe Exotic. It’s odd, it’s eccentric, it’s wild, and we can’t wait to watch it (a review will be posted thereafter!).
Once Upon a Time
Who doesn’t love a little Disney princess action? Once Upon a Time is a fantasy-adventure-drama all-in-one show that boasts seven seasons, so if you’re looking for something to binge-watch, this is it. Shreya had watched a few episodes a while ago, and wants to continue where she left off during this quarantine. This Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Lana Parrilla starrer is a treat!
Becoming
We can all agree that Michelle Obama was one of the most charismatic First Ladies we’ve ever had. Becoming is an autobiographical docuseries that explores the very beginning of Michelle’s life, and because she is so empowering, we cannot wait to dive into this show!
